Black like them, worshipping the god of Blackness

"If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." This verse has been a very powerful verse in the formation of my attitude toward following and serving the LORD. I use it as the basis for my attitude toward others I come in contact with. For me that verse says, there are many gods out there that man has created to serve. Everyone must decide for themselves what god they will follow and serve. But as Joshua said in the verse above, for Mary Baker I and those who live in my household will serve the LORD. When choosing who it is one will follow, that person must make the choice to follow and serve wholeheartedly. In Matthew 6:24, Jesus says this, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other You cannot serve God and wealth.”

In this verse Jesus specifically refers to money, but the context of the verse can be used in any situation where a person is serving or giving of themselves. In this passage, we see that there are some who place money as their god, they worship it and their lifestyle is centered on and driven by it. We all know someone whose lifestyle reflect exactly what these Scriptures describe. I have discovered recently that there are many other objects of ones affection that can become ones god. For instance, I have been very intrigued by the manner in which blacks have reacted to the election of President Obama. In most cases, many do not hold to any of the same ideologies he holds to, but they are committed to a certain aspect of him, through which many have found their own empowerment and identity. Regardless of what he does or does not do these people are faithfully committed to a certain thing about President Obama. For a long time, I wondered, why is it that so many blacks are devoted to this man?

I think about my own beliefs and values and find that President Obama and I have nothing in common. So what is different about me and other blacks that do oppose him, and the majority of blacks who are solely devoted to him? I have been totally baffled until today, when the LORD gave me wisdom to see the difference. For those blacks who worship Obama, they follow him because he is black. That’s it, they don’t have to believe anything he believes or have anything in common with him he is just “black like them”. Obama’s blackness is the god that they worship. Then it all began to make sense. I think about the ideologies Barack Obama holds to and the convictions of those in the black community and I see this so crystal clear. For many blacks, the blackness that they worship means more to them than the God that created them black.

Many blacks attend church on a regular basis but their doctrine is one built on the religion of blackness. Social Justice is something that has long been fought through the leadership of the black church. They believe that social justice means that equality in all areas can only be attained by the government. Their views about poverty are evident as many inner cities have been trampled upon waiting for those they elect in government to come through and wipe all of their struggles away. Jesus says however, in John 12:7-8, these words, “7Therefore Jesus said, "Let her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of My burial. 8"For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me." Jesus never gave us command to make the poor equal, we were warned to not take advantage of the poor, or not to mistreat them, or oppress them, but never to make them equal through the distribution of what someone else owns.

If we really look into the true motives of liberals and the left, we can see by the living conditions of many inner city communities, that there is a lot of mistreatment going on, and a lot of taking advantage, any many do not really care about the poor they are only using them for their own advantage. But again in the religion of blackness the concept of social justice has been embraced and instilled in the minds of those who worship at its altar. Although they may sing songs with great passion about how good God is their true deliverer is their government officials. That is what they hoped for in electing President Obama. The highest person in office would be the embodiment of their blackness and finally deliverance would come.

In the area of gay rights, many blacks are totally against gay rights, yet the President and his liberal pundits are fierce supporters of the gay rights agenda. God’s Word however tells us to flee all sexual immorality. It does not matter what it is; we should have nothing to do with supporting, condoning or promoting sexually immoral behaviors. In the religion of blackness sexual immorality is the centerpiece of ones lifestyle. There seem to be no boundaries or accountability whether in the church setting or any other setting where men and women are held to any moral standard. Sexual immorality is glorified in the music, movies, art, publications, and churches, of those who embrace the religion of blackness.

Another Scripture that has formulated my life as a Christian is 2 Corinthians 5:17, which says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” This concept of newness is foreign to those who worship at the altar of blackness. What I have witnessed especially from the clips of preachers of those like Jeremiah Wright is that there is no forgiveness, or redemption. The sins of the past should always be pressed upon the backs of the children of their fathers, fathers to infinite generations. I at one time worshipped there as well. I was led to believe by those in the black leadership that I was better because I was black, and that my enemy was mainly those who were white Evangelical Christians. That in itself shows that those who worship the god of blackness worship a very different god. That is why blacks can follow Obama to the grave, just as I would follow Christ, regardless of what others may say in opposition of him.

I understand why many can have very different convictions and values than Obama, but remain devoted to him. The god of blackness has been taken life form through Obama. Many blacks view him as everything they have ever hoped for in a deliverer. Some see themselves when they look at him in his color and that alone. They have seen their blackness exalted as President Obama holds the highest office in our land. They don’t see a President that represents the people of America they see someone who represents what their blackness is all about.

For me, there is nothing more precious to me than the forgiveness and redemption Christ has afforded me. The person I use to be I will never be again, because I am a new person in Christ. The manner in which many blacks view President Obama, is the same way I feel about Jesus, people can say whatever they want about Him but as for me and my house we shall serve the LORD.

  1. Wow, Mary . That is soooo good. You know, I was in a Lifeway Christian store the other day and a black preacher (or minister; he had the collar and everything...)came in. He was very cordial and sweet. He was buying a number of Bibles for another church out of town. They couldn't afford them so he wanted to bless them with that gift. Wow. Nice gesture, I thought. As my kids and I got into our car, we saw him get in his van. I swear there were 5 Obama stickers on his vehicle. I was incomplete shock! How can a man serving the Lord side with Obama, no matter the color of his skin. I voiced my opinion and my daughter said, "Well, Momma. Duh. He's black." I tried to reason and argue. "But his stand on abortion alone should lead someone of God to NOT follow him... what about his opinion of gay rights... blah, blah, blah." Your blog just confirmed what my daughter said.

Mary, thank you for your boldness on this topic. I love that your allegiance is to God first. We should all take notice and follow that lead! God bless you!

  3. Lisa,

I am black and I did not get it until yesterday. Remember what I said, their blackness is their real god. So the message of our God who created them, does not carry as much weigh as the god of their blackness. It does not matter that Obama think it's okay to kill babies struggling for their life, he's black. It doesn't matter if he lies about everything he says, he's black. It doesn't matter that he gets a Nobel Peace Prize, for doing absolutely nothing, zelch, zero, natta, he's black. It does not matter if he is a staunch supporter of gay rights, he's black. Nothing matter's to them, but this one thing, he's black. I saw on the facebook page of this girl I attend a former church with, a note that said, My Presidents' black like me, I thought now that's stupid. But now I understand why she would write something so dumb, he's black. Wow how old is your daughter?

  4. Hi Kim,
Thank you for rising early in the morning to comment on my blog. I really appreciate your support, and I believe that God is really being to do some amazing things within our midst. I hope black people will come and read it and be released from the bondage of what blinds them. I understand now why I feel so alien to their reaction to Obama.

  6. I saw you on the Glenn Beck show, Mary.

It was so encouraging. It's encouraging to see you, and other mothers rise up and speak your minds.

Glenn was RIGHT! You DO have the most important job in the world, as a wife and mother!

Please keep talking. The country needs to hear what you have to say!

    God bless,

My daughter is 15. She is an avid watcher of Glenn Beck, as well. I shared your blog on my facebook page and my friends are eating it up! I also attend church with a man who L-O-V-E-S you and your blog! I think it is so awesome the way God brings people into our lives. I can't wait to meet you in heaven!

  8. Hi Aaron,

I think God leaves us in these places and begins to set a flame of refining amongst us, when we get to that place where the fire actually starts to start pressing against us and we experience painful things because of it,then God can use us. I am just thankful of the many people that are saying that they see that it's time to move in the right direction now.

  9. Thank you so much for sharing my blog, I think when people start to see this for where it is then they can actually be ministers and witnesses to those who are blinded by that religion of blackness. Before you most probably as I was thinking that blacks are so racist, this is still true to point, but more than that, their blackness is their god. They have been led to worship the color of who they are, that is why they cling to things that should have been let go many many years ago.

Use this information as a foundation to reach into their lives of darkness.

  10. Mary,

I, too, found you on Glenn Beck and now am an avid reader of your blog. You are really an amazing woman! We don't share the sam skin color, but we share something so much more important and wonderful and that is all that should matter, we are sisters in Christ. Blessings to you and your family.

  11. Well said, and yes it is something I see...even in my own heritage of being a Lakota. I have seen those who have forgotten the Creator, God, The I AM. They become entrenched in "hating whitey".

Sad, but they have forgotten (or some don't even recognize Him because He is something brought over by the 'whites') that it was His Son Jesus Christ's sacrifice which eliminated the true divisions of ethnicity and culture (if only man would allow themselves to see that truth).

Let me put it plainly, those who are truly in the Lord Jesus and follow Him, will be more identified and bound together by a love for the Lord Jesus, through worship of Him in spirit and truth than they will by a love for their own ethnic backgrounds or cultures.

This does not say I am not proud of my heritage, or that I am not thankful to be who I am or where I am, or the family lineage I came from. However when I accepted Jesus as Lord and confessed that He is the Son of God who died for my sin; this became the new definition of my true family, my eternal family. It should be so plain to see but sadly the forces of evil are pitting us against each other with lies and deception.

I must say again that I am so thankful to have heard of blogging, and especially to have seen yours, (only recently). I finally dove in and began blogging, it has encouraged me and strengthened my resolve to be silent no longer, to take action and stand for righteousness for the sake of my children.

    blessings,
    Sister!

  12. Wow Mary, this is a powerful and well thought out post.

It was difficult for me to reconcile why anyone who said they were a Christian - no matter their skin color - would have voted for Obama because of his inexperience, his radical associations and liberal thinking, but I am afraid you are right. Did they not understand the future implications?

It was very clever marketing toward young and politically inexperienced college students who have not actually had to live real life and raise families just yet, and the fact unfortunately for many, that he was a black man that put him in office. There was a strong historical factor involved here - putting a black man in the highest office in our country for the first time. I too was proud of this and that I lived to see this happen - he was just the wrong black man!

I did not vote for Obama because of his lack of a record, his inexperience, his radical associations and liberal thinking, and it had nothing to do with the fact that he was black. But, because I am white, and I don't give him a blank check to do as he wishes, I am called a racist. For the record, there has never been a racist bone in this body of mine, and I get infuriated when I hear that thrown out just because a person who opposes his policies and practices happens to be white.

If Obama had been able to show me a proven record of preserving basic tenants of conservative thinking and the values I treasure, I would have voted for him - where he was white, black, Asian, Latino, or whatever!

  13. As I scrolled down to post my comment, I saw the same word I'm going to write, "wow". On target scripturally and my prayers are with you for strength to stand in a battle of standing on the promises of God. I also think about how God commanded the Hebrews not to reap from the corners of their fields, in order to provide for the poor and the stranger. (Lev 19:9-10). Thanks for your insight, faith + courage to stand.

  14. Thank you ladies, you all are so well spoken yourselves. You speak powerfully and with conviction. I feel as though I am reading my very own thoughts. So many people miss so much when the allow the many gods of this world to blind and deceive them. I feel like I know you all and feel that bond of the Spirit just through your writings. I feel that spiritual family association. It convinces me even more that we have so much more to offer each other, yet those golden opportunities are lost because some divide themselve for superfical reasons like race, or social status, or creed and such. I am so blessed to know however that there are conservatives out there who are ready to share their stories to go out and impact their circles of influence. You all speak so intelligently and so godly. I am so impressed with that. For so long Christians have been branded as dumb sheep just following whatever their church leaders tell them, but this is so not the case. Keep on speaking and speaking passionately. When you allow someone to silence you then, your message is what you have to say really is not that important anyway.

  15. Hi Mary,
I love reading your powerful words. They surely will bring light to many whose lives have been clouded by generations of mistreatment from radical teachings. This makes me think of Glenn Beck's thoughts the other day about the modern day slavery that the Unions and our radical left government is touting on the poor and illegal immigrants to keep them under their thumbs to be used to gain more power. It is against the Founder's words and it is against God's words to do this.
You keep thinking and writing Mary and praying! And we will pray that your words are inspired by God and moved by Him to all those who need to read them.

  16. Hi Mary,
You are so inspiring and your insight is amazing. We are all equal in God's eyes. After all we've been through,I never realized or understood why there was still such a racial divide. I've always believe if you treat people with respect, they in turn, will treat you with respect. I wonder if the people that work for ACORN realize how they are being used or enslaved. The people that controll them are probably making a 6 figure salary and give them just enough to scratch out a living, though they pretend to be there to help. This is how they continue to keep them enslaved. People need a hand up not a hand out. I pray that God will bless them and give them the courage and insight needed to brake the bonds of enslavement. God Bless you and you family.

  18. "For many blacks, the blackness that they worship means more to them than the God that created them black." Perfect summation. It makes sense. I've looked for every other reason to explain why someone who is a follower of Christ could justify, even in their own mind, voting for Obama. Bless you, and keep speaking out!

  19. As a brown American I sense this adoration with our President in my family too. I guess because he is considered a "minority" like us. Even though the stance Mr. Obama takes on all moral issues goes against our beliefs, my family felt that they had to vote for him and still continue to blindly support him - simply because he is black and we are brown - both "minorities". It's been hard for me to voice my opinion regarding how wrong this is. Thank you for the scripture verses that I can reference in our next discussion and thanks again for another well written article. Sandra D.

While going through the campaign for President (which lasted way too long)I kept asking myself "what am I missing"? I just could not understand all the hoopla over Mr. Obama. He had never governed or owned a business, his past was community organizing and he was a new Senator. He gave great speechs but the people he had been tied to were all radicals. Now I get it. 21. Thank you all, the one thing I do sense is that we have reached the end of the road and are looking around saying is this it. Is this what we left our values and principles behind for. Now we know and now we can stand together and understand why the founding fathers laid out our nation in the manner that they did. They understood the relationship between God and a nation that is guided by Him. Psalms 33:12, tells us the same thing, the nation whose God is the LORD is blessed.

We take God out we take away everything, all is left is for evil to abound and that it has. Thank you all so much for your comments. I look forward to seeing our lives changed as we as a nation turn our hearts toward God.

  22. Mary, I just now read this and HAD to comment. You nailed it! My husband and I have thoroughly come to this conclusion, and the more time that has gone by, the more we believe this to be the problem. We have seen it firsthand; we have seen it especially in the churches. It is a sad, sad thing. A year ago, during those heated days approaching the election, we saw it in our close family and friends. They speak of God in their conversations, and they seem to hold many of the values that we share in certain areas. But it didn't (doesn't) matter because of what it means to them to have this man of color (and his family) in the White House. It means SO much to them. I live in a suburban town with a large black population and I cannot explain to you how I felt on election day. Everywhere I went that day, to the bank, supermarket, post office, there was this "air" that something "great"was about to happen. I can't even explain it, it was so intense. When we went to the polls, my husband said he felt "nervous." When I went into the booth and cast my vote I was in tears. I have had so many emotions about this whole thing, wishing there was some way I could reach the dear people of my race. I am still praying for opportunities to present themselves someday.

I am with you, sister. Me and my house will serve the Lord. Jesus is my only Savior and hope. I am a Christian first, and my race will ALWAYS be secondary to that. I have been encouraged though, because I have been discovering more and more blacks on the internet who feel as we do, at least politically. This has meant a lot to me and it is my desire that we can band together somehow to reach out to others who desperately need enlightenment.

Thanks for yet another great post, Mary.

  23. You are welcome Maxine. I have had this same, "that's it" reaction all day. These people are lost, and they need to meet Jesus. There souls are not bound with ours that is why we can feel so connected with people we have never met before better than we can connect with those we have known all of our lives. We must pray the prayer of Ephesians 1:17-19. It's really a sad thing to witness. I was told today by a friend of mine that there are black people who have pictures of Obama and his family right their own setting of family photos. That is really strange. And then I think where are they getting these pictures? Is he perpetrating this? Man, have we been asleep. Thank you so much Maxine, I am thankful for the insights that God provides. Without Him, my writings would be meaningless. I am glad that God has blessed me with so many dear friends in the blogosphere.

  24. Mary, I am impressed at how concisely you write being a wordy girl I am glad to know that yours is a voice which is clear and ringing out for conservatives! I think you hit the nail on the head so to speak about the Libs creating dependence. I am often perplexed by people who support the President and don't know anything about his policies. I can understand getting behind the idea of a President who looks like you. I would love to see, more importantly I would love for my sons to see, someone in the White House who looks like them, BUT I think what's more important is someone who looks like them on the INSIDE not the outside. Someone who shares our values, not our skin tone. You quote is one that is near and dear to me, I have it on a plaque next to my door. I want my sons to see it whenever they leave the house. A little reminder that we as a family serve the Lord. Thanks for the wisdom and food for thought.

  26. Hi Michelle and Selah V,

Thank you for visiting this morning. Before writing this through God's inspiration, I just was baffled. I could not understand why blacks can not see Obama for his ideologies, that are so destructive, especially to those in the black community that live in low income areas. His policies does nothing positive for them. Killing ones baby does not eliminate the issues they are having. The heart must change not the elimination of life. President Obama is a staunch supporter of abortions. I just don't see how any person who represents a platform of ethics can support abortion. Again thank you both, sometimes we things become gods in our lives that we don't realize. It's the manner in which we admire or adore those things that place them as gods in our lives. Slavery in the mind is very deceptive and I have seen it happen in so many areas of our lives as we reflect on the things we have embraced as viewpoints that are contrary to the word of God. One would be amazed at how many ungodly concepts have been instilled in our minds through liberal progressivism. This idealogy worships the god of self. Have a great day and God bless all of you.

Well done and well said! Ma'am, I have just begun blogging after watching the two 9/12 Mom's episodes on Glenn Beck. Yours is, so far, the only one on my BloggRoll, since I am so new at this. I just read this one to my husband while he was shaving; I just had to. We have had these same thoughts for a while now, and applaud those brave enough to speak up for what's right, instead of continuing to support what is politically correct.

Keep standing up, you have our prayers!

Gee, you get a lot of white supremacist racist here. How many policemen in Pittsburgh did Glenn Beck get killed again? How many doctors in church got killed because of what Oreilly said? Why do racist white, sick Republiklans being guns where the President is giving a speech? Why do Stormfront, the Klan, and the Aryan Nation have the same views as people on your site.

BTW, I didn't vote for the President because he's black. J.Kenneth Blackwell ran for Governor of my state and I voted against him. Why is it that a black Republiklan supports the suppression of black people? Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson wanted to thank white people for slavery,BTW Sean Klannity's charity B.O.N.D. supports him.

BTW, tell your friend Elizabeth that most of the people getting abortions are white women. Remember how Oreilly always complains about the high birth rates among brown and white people? The more education one haves , the less kids a woman has, just ask Ann Coulter or Laura Ingraham.

I guess the right were being good Christians when they brought their machine guns to the Presidents rallies.Maybe they were good Christians when they held up signs at either the race rallies or tea party rallies calling him a monkey.Maybe you loved the lynching jokes.

  35. My precious sister in the Lord. I so thank God for you. Not because you just speak the truth on the "black" issue, but because you speak the truth. You are truly anointed of God. It is so refreshing to hear the truth. I just have one comment on "blackness". Why do we not hear anything at all about the first "slaves"???

It was the Jews. Just Look at how they have suffered. Look at the Holocaust. I cannot not believe that I have not heard or seen in print about the Jews being the first slaves. Oh sure "it" is preached on or touched on in the pulpits, but not taught on. They gloss over it.

"Slavery" is like something that the blacks want to own , like they have the title or possession to it.

And that is not true, the first slaves were the Jews. How can we ever get beyond something if we are constantly reminded of it. Even Barack has brought it up in one of his speeches. And I thought that was race baiting. I cannot believe, but yet I can believe what this world has come to. I want you to know that I am white, I am married to a black man and I have a black granddaughter and I go to a black church. And I am saved and I love the Lord Jesus Christ.

Would love to hear from you. May God bless you honey. I love you and thank GOD for you.

  36. I cannot believe that someone who names the name of the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour voted in a man for President who believes in Abortion, gay rights, and does NOT fully support Israel. I DON'T care what his color is!!!!! Barack Obama is a tool or instrument in accomplishing God's will. Just like Pharaoh and Nebuchanezzar was.

    And many, many others.

He has no idea that he is lost and on his way to hell. As a Christian did I vote for any "white" man that believed as Barack does????? NO!!!!I did not. Where was the Bible when some of these people voted for him?? They call themselves Christians. Abortion is murder. If it was not for the fact that GOD had a plan, how much of a chance would Jesus have being born today??

Just look another "king", "President" ordered the killing of the children under the age of two years old and another one in the Old Testament ordered the Hebrew midwives to kill the babies as they were being born, but they refused to.

Because he "the king" was being used by the devil to try and kill our Lord and Saviour. And the other one was to destroy the lineage of our Lord.

    Some are deceiving themselves.

  37. Here's some more stuff that you "Christians" support,it's in the Bible:
    _______________________________________________

There’s a new slogan making its way onto car bumpers and across the Internet. It reads simply: "Pray for Obama: Psalm 109:8"

    A nice sentiment?

    Maybe not.

The psalm reads, "Let his days be few; and let another take his office."

Presidential criticism through witty slogans is nothing new. Bumper stickers, t-shirts, and hats with "1/20/09" commemorated President Bush’s last day in office.

But the verse immediately following the psalm referenced is a bit more ominous: "Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow."
