Hello Everyone,
It's been quite the weekend as my full article of "Why I am no longer an African American", was featured this weekend on "The American Thinker". The response from the article was totally humbling. It revealed something very powerful about the resolve of the American people to overcome. Many express their shared sentiment with the article and their desire to see America once and for all part ways with racial divisiveness. The article was also featured on Lucianne.com as well.
It was also touching that the article appeared at the same time American's remembered 9/11 and American's also marched on the nation's capitol on 9/12 for the Tea Party event in DC. My hope is that this weekend is the beginning of the rebuilding of America. I think that our politicians received a resounding messages from Americans this weekend in DC. This article reminded also of the little people in "Horton, Hears a Who," As the citizens of Whoville were about to meet their final fate, the small voices broke through the small speck to reach the world around them. This is what I hear American's saying through the responses to this article and to the responses to our government, "We are here, we are here, we are here. And we will remain here as we give our useless politicial an early retirement in 2010.

ReplyDeleteIt was such a great experience having seen the article there but the greatest thing was to experience, that there is still a very good part of America that exist. Regardless of what the real racist say, I see the true picture of the America that I love and will come back stronger and more in touch with the principles of her founders. Thank you for commenting.

I came to know you through your posting at American Thinker. What a refreshingly honest look at America today. I am saddened, and thoroughly afraid, that the inroads America has made -- without the help of the liberals, mind you -- in what's euphemistically known as "race relations" will be set back to the horrible times of the '50's and '60's. I hate the pitting of black against white. Even though I'm an older white woman, I believe we all have a kinship from being born in the greatest country in the world. I embrace MLK's philosophy of judging someone on the content of their character and not their skin color. Yet I am branded as a racist because of my American values. Thank you for embracing being an American rather than a race-specific hyphenation. I pray for our country daily, and for all Americans regardless of skin color.

Who knew that there was another black conservative homeschooling mom of 7 in the blogosphere?! God is so good!

ReplyDeleteSo glad to have found where you are. On Saturday, I was one of those who commented on your article (as "Nannascraps"), and was so blessed by it that Monday I put a link to it on my blog. Then, I went back yesterday to see how the comments were going and saw your link back here on one of your later comments. Your article was wonderful, and as a black conservative who feels exactly the same, I was thrilled to see it. This has been a tough week with all that has been happening, so your article was a bright spot for me. I am bookmarking your blog and putting myself as a follower of it so that I can keep up with you in the future.

ReplyDeleteI just left a message on your blog, it's a really nice site. I am so glad that there are many others like yourself who have been able to break free from the changes of racism. I know what really changed my heart was my relationship with Christ. Being a new creation in Him caused me to take on a new mindset that is free from the hate filled sentiments of the past.
